Georgios Petsinis, Orthopaedic Surgeon MD, PhD

I was born in Patras in 1968. In 1992, I graduated from the Medical Faculty of the University of Patras. I completed my military service as a Doctor in Cyprus and then completed my rural service as a general practitioner in Likouria of Kalavryta.

From 1995 to 2001, I specialised in Orthopaedic Surgery at the General Hospital “Agios Andreas” of Patras and the “Karamandaneio” Children’s Hospital of Patras.

In 2002, I was awarded a PhD by the Medical Faculty of the University of Ioannina, for my thesis titled: “Early results of Zweymueller metal-on-metal total hip arthroplasty”, which was graded “cum laude”.

In 2001, I started my specialisation in Switzerland. I served at the Bruderholz and Aarau Kantonsspital, engaged in arthroscopic surgery, spine surgery, sports injuries and total arthroplasty.

In 2003, returning from abroad, I provided my services to the O.P.A.D. [Healthcare provider for public-sector insured parties] as inspecting doctor. In parallel, I undertook the medical coverage of the Panachaiki football team, and later of several professional teams, mainly in the field of football.

As of 2004, I served at the N.H. S. as Orthopaedic Surgeon, initially at the General Hospital of Patras “O Agios Andreas” and then at the General Hospital of Elefsina “Thriasio” until 2011, when I decided to leave, with the rank of 1st Consultant.

This course led me to the conscious choice of exercising medicine in the private sector, as I am now convinced that this is the most effective approach, enabling the Treating physician to get to know the patient as a person and manage each case through an integrated approach, in the best conditions, using the infrastructures of private clinics that respect the personal dignity of both doctors and patients.
